Summer Recap

It was the highlight of my summer to participate in the trumpet seminar at Chosen Vale. Each day was packed with trumpet workshops, rehearsals, and masterclasses led by world-class faculty from many different professional backgrounds. We discussed topics dealing with all facets of trumpet playing, such as different approaches to trumpet method books, developing practice routines, analyzing orchestral music, maintaining good health as a performer, and blazing our own paths as artists. I think faculty member Stephen Burns put it best: "Chosen Vale is like a Master's degree in trumpet crammed into two weeks."

My favorite moment, though, was performing Joseph Haydn's Trumpet Concerto in E flat with pianist Rebecca Wilt in a masterclass taught by Ryan Bancroft. Ryan is chief conductor of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Royal Stockholm Philharmonic and is a trumpet player himself. Ryan helped me explore Haydn's legendary work from new perspectives and find more room for expression. The faculty were impressed with my performance and selected me to play the piece again in a featured concert the next night, which was received well by the faculty, my peers, and members of the Enfield community.

Thanks to everyone who helped make this experience possible through your generous contributions this past spring! Your support means the world to me.

Upcoming Events

Here are some concerts to look forward to in the near future, starting with my first concert at Peabody next weekend! I will be playing principal trumpet on the program, which features Verdi's Nabucco Overture, Schubert's "Unfinished" Symphony, and more. All performances at Peabody are free and open to the public, but if you can't make it, the concerts are also live-streamed. More info and live stream access can be found here.

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to drive up to Pittsburgh to take an audition for the Johnstown (PA) Symphony's substitute musician list. I am happy to announce that I won the audition and will hopefully get the opportunity to play with this orchestra in their '24/25 concert season!

In the Love of Jesus - Cave Spring UMC

Here is a clip from the piece In the Love of Jesus, which I played at Cave Spring United Methodist back on July 21st. The live stream cut out halfway through the piece, but I was able to grab this clip of the final phrase. Hope you enjoy it!

Thanks for reading!
