The Art of Baroque Trumpet

Having studied Baroque trumpet since the beginning of this school year with international soloist Josh Cohen, I will finally be making my public debut on the instrument! I have been infatuated with the Baroque style for most of my career, so it is very satisfying to play on a modern recreation of the trumpet used in this era.

Peabody Season Finale: Carmina Burana

From chamber works like Prokofiev's Classical Symphony to powerful symphonic pieces like Strauss's Also Sprach Zarathustra, this Spring concert season has been a rollercoaster of great orchestral works. On Friday, May 2nd at 7:30 pm, the Peabody Symphony Orchestra, joined by the combined Peabody choirs, will be ending the school year with a bang, performing Carl Orff's formidable Carmina Burana at Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. It is sure to be an exciting concert!

This summer: BSO Academy

I am excited to be participating in the Baltimore Symphony's orchestral academy this June. I will be playing alongside members of the symphony in full orchestral concerts, chamber concerts, and potentially a solo recital. This experience is being supported by a full tuition scholarship from the BSO educational administration.

Video Clip: Trumpet Studio Recital - Napoli

Based on the melody from the Neapolitan song Funiculì, funiculà by Luigi Denza, Napoli is a theme-and-variations piece that shows off the virtuosity of the trumpet. It was fun to prepare for our studio recital last Sunday, and I hope to play it again on a recital of my own in the future!

Thanks for reading!

Peabody Concerts Ever since I was accepted into the graduate program at Peabody, I have been patiently waiting (and hoping) to play under the baton of the great Marin Alsop, principal guest conductor of the Philadelphia Orchestra and former conductor of the Baltimore Symphony. This month, I finally get that chance as she returns to conduct the Peabody Symphony Orchestra. Peabody large ensembles are on tour in the Baltimore area this fall as renovations continue on our main concert hall, but...

Just announced: Senior Recital Date Nothing has been more beneficial to my artistic growth than my time at the University of Georgia, under the instruction of legendary trumpeter Philip Smith. This recital is a culmination of that growth and will showcase an array of musical styles across...
